Tower says:
The process of reproduction itself, including the digitisation & mastering processes, has evolved over the last few years, bringing us new discoveries. Even if the sound source has been converted to SA-CD in the past, recent digital technology is constantly improving, so it has become possible to produce higher-quality, more precise sound sources.
This is a Sviatoslav Richter, special with Wittold Lovitki, Kurt Sanderling, Herbert von Karajan, Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra, Vienna Symphony Orchestra, etc.
From the heyday of Richter, all the concertos recorded by DG from 1958 to 62 were assembled into 3 pieces. Except Disc 3, this is their 1st time on SACD.
I did my best to amend google’s translation, but it got the better of me in places:
Richter, who was known as a phantom pianist & rarely performed in the West, recorded a Pictures at an Exhibition in Sofia, Bulgaria in February 1958, which was released in the West as a record. This brought him fame worldwide, Also in 1958, the 1st Tchaikovsky Competition was held & Richter participated as a judge. His influence was growing more & more, such as acclamation from Cliburn. DG, who had already recorded Schumann’s solo work in November 1956, finally started recording a concerto in October 1958 with the DG staff getting into Warsaw. The 1st recording was Schumann, the 1st song of DISC1. In April of the following year, 4 songs were recorded together, including Mozart, Prokofiev, & Rachmaninoff, & the evaluation of Richter was fixed. Among them, Richter (piano sonata No. 7 premiere), who had a close relationship with Prokofiev, was especially loved by No. 5 (recorded in the former EMI with Masere in 1970), & it is also evaluated that there is still no performance beyond this. The Piano Concerto No.2 of Rachmaninov, an absolute masterpiece, became a memorable recording.
In September 1962, a more immortal masterpiece was born with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra in the background. Sandelling was Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.3 (this song was also re-recorded with Muti in 1977) Rondo, & Karajan was shockingly Tchaikovsky. Beethoven’s respect for the work is richly respected by Richter’s godly attitude & touch that has been honed to the finest details, while the work is the only stereo session recording. Without emphasising the special aspect, the serious attitude of faithfully reproducing the original form of the work behind & the competition with Karajan’s extraordinary tension was sublime, not only Richter, It became 1 of the albums representing this song. In addition, the level of performance of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, which has undergone considerable rehearsals, is high, & the ultimate performance of the trio of concertos is here. Even after about 60 years, these recordings still sound vivid. In this reproduction, not only the facial expression of the piano & subtle touches, but also the textures & detailed expressions of each instrument, I can now grasp the sense of reality. As a result, the sound that was masked is buried, & it is possible to reproduce a wonderful recording in which a sense of scale & a sound field with a good overall view are fused. In addition to the high quality of performance & rare performances, please enjoy it as the best package work after a reliable process of reproduction.
