Pandit is the musical outlet for Texas singer/songwriter/producer Lance Smith.
After multiple attempts with various projects, Smith decided to go solo in mid 2009. The intention of developing well crafted pop songs that are infused with alternative experimentation has been the main goal under the alias of Pandit. Smith describes his material as a “never know what you are going to get” type of approach. There’s never any formula as to how the song’s are written. Smith’s method of creating music is purely a stream-of-consciousness, similar to that of Bradford Cox.
In January of 2010, Smith self-released his debut EP to rave reviews. People began really admiring his approach towards music, meaning to not limiting himself to a certain style. Shortly thereafter, work began on what will be Smith’s first full length out on the Waaga label. There’s a good amount of shoegaze/twee influences on it, though it’s dream pop informed by latter day chillwave. But all in all, it’s a pop album close to perfection.

These seventeen tracks range from the past five years of mostly just fucking around. After attempting to clean up both my external hard drive and my computer, I found close to 650 demos
that I had made and felt that some of these if not all needed to be heard. A lot of these tracks are countless nights and days of me basically learning how to record. Even though a lot
of the tracks on here may sound poorly made or half assed, they convey a ton of emotion that I felt was a huge process in what kept me going to this very day. At times I wanted to
completely quit making music all together. I kept hitting these lows in what I have always considered to be the only thing that has ever made me truly happy. Which, is making music.
When you find something you're passionate about, keep at it. You might not see any glorious result's at first, but that's the beauty of it.
I'm releasing this not just for the hell of it, but to fill people in on the past five years of what I've come to learn in the attempt to making satisfying music. Not just for you, but
for myself. So that being said, I hope you enjoy the first installment of what will be countless volumes of demos and covers.

Tracks 4 & 14 were recorded alongside with Michael Peters.
All tracks recorded at my home studio from 2005-2010 except track 2 which was recorded live at
the jam studio in Beaumont, TX circa 2008. Other artists on track 1 are Michael Peters, Adam Floyd, Justin Soileau, Robert Walker and Dalton Different.
Thanks to everyone for all their support and non stop love!! I owe each and every one of you tremendously! Hope to see you all in 2011!
"Eternity Spin" is set for release digitally/CD on Waaga Records come February 22nd. It'll also be out via cassette on Wonder Beard Tapes and on 12" with Juno Beach Records.
