Enemy Soil was a grindcore band from Virginia, USA formed by Richard Johnson (who later on would join Agoraphobic Nosebleed), R. Mason & Vaughn that
existed through most of the 1990’s. The lyrics are mostly about socio-political subjects with a few are covering the “darker side” of personal relationships.
Bones Brigade records released a select double CD discography of the group’s music, which will go into its third pressing in the near future. The discography
album is entitled “Smash the state”. Soon there will be an Enemy Soil DVD by the same title, covering the band’s whole career too, on video.
Enemy Soil had one album, “The ruins of Eden”, pressed on vinyl by Insolito records and on CD by Clean Plate records, and a mini-album, “Fractured theology”,
issued by Profane Existence. The rest of the band’s releases were EPs, split EPs, and compilation appearances all of which can be found on the Bones Brigade release.
Some of the bands Enemy Soil put out splits with included Agoraphobic Nosebleed, PG.99, Wadge, Reversal Of Man, and Corrupted.
“Smash the state” overview:
Starting as a pure underground grindcore band, Enemy Soil gained, with years passing by, a true cult act of the genre before disbanding in the late nineties.
“Smash the state” is a double-CD compilation featuring their comple discography (with the exception of the “Casualties of progress” EP) as well as detailed liner notes
from Richard Johnson recalling the band’s career.
