Despite the simplicity, Entwine have got to be my favorite goth metal band, and thats saying alot since I usually don't like most goth metal.
One of my favorite things about this band is the fact that they have a male and female singer. It gives alot of contrast to the songs. The male vocals also sound very sexy, which is a good thing in a band with this type of sound. I also love the violins at the end of Until The End. When you look at the songs altogether, they're put together nicely and have a great sound. But when you look at each instruments part separately...you'll realize that there's really nothing special about this band. The guitars and bass play pretty much the same riff in every songs, and the drums have the same beat most of the time- there are VERY few exceptions to this. The keyboards are a nice touch though.
Best tracks: The Pit, Falling Apart, Until The End, and Time of Despair.

So the new Entwine CD finally hit the good old inbox.Not quite knowing what to expect considering this EP has two new songs that may reflect their new release, and hearing the ramblings of people who just don't understand good metal, fear was ever present. Sliver proved to be no disappointment, but also nothing special.
The first track, "Break Me", carries off without a hitch and sounds much like the band on their release diEversity. A tasteful track that is possibly the highlight of the EP. However the next track is something special. While many people many not respect the band Savage Garden, even though they are quite talented at their style, chances are they will respect the cover. Entwine decided to put next their rendition of "Carry On Dancing" which is actually rather good and fits the style perfectly, edging you to sing along from wherever you are enjoying this CD.
Up next is another brand new track, "Still Waiting", which sounds exactly like Entwine and sounds like it might have been a b-side track that was originally supposed to be on diEversity...not that there's anything wrong with that.
Finally the EP concludes with "Still Falling" and "The Pit", both being live renditions. While both songs are good, they give you a good feel of what the band sounds like live if you haven't seen them yet. And the good news is they sound pretty much dead on live as they are on the CD. While some bands are terrible live, Entwine seem to have good control when outside of the studio as well. But when listening, please not exactly what gender is singing along to all the lyrics. You probably won't be suprised.
So, yes this EP is pretty good, but it's also nothing special. It sounds like two tracks that may have been cut from their release diEversity, but who is going to complain about two killer tracks, a b-side, and two pretty good live tracks? Whether your a fan of the band, style, or are just looking to start somewhere, this is definately a release for you. It may cost close to the price of an actual CD (especially after import costs) but not only will you have a good CD with rare cuts on it that won't appear on any official release CD outside of this EP, you will also have a collectible piece of metal in your collection you can pull out and sing along with any time you feel like showboating your vocal skills if need be.
