Orquesta Batachanga is a 22-piece ensemble from San Francisco specializing in red-hot interpretations of Cuban salsa. A dynamic musical form popular in various Caribbean Basin countries such as Cuba and Mexico, salsa draws on the twin roots of West African percussion rhythms and Latin music. Orquesta Batachanga combine piano, horns, violin, flute, guitar and synthesizer along with an impressive array of percussion instruments including the double-headed bata drums sacred to the Yoruba people of Nigeria, congas, bongos, timbales, shekere and guiro.
