Peter Herbolzheimer was born in Bucharest, Romania, but moved to Detroit where he started playing the guitar. When he returned to Europe and settled in Germany he went to the Neurenberg School of Music and studied trombone. He played in several orchestras and in 1969 he founded his own big band, called the Rhythm Combination & Brass. In this band, some great names have found a place, like Herb Geller, Derek Watkins, Ack Van Rooijen, Bart Van Lier and Art Farmer. In 1972 he was invited to make the music for the Olympic Games in Munich , which indicates how important his band was in Germany.
This 2CD contains music from two decades, the 1980s and the 1990s. In the 1980s Peter Herbolzheimer rediscovered the classical swing tunes from the 1930s and recorded it, of course transformed using modern arrangements.
