Hi. I am Claude S. (the guy behind Anything Box & The Diary). I make …. Art. For me, all forms of art are intertwined in my mind and heart. Hence my music is not merely ‘electronic’, ‘synthpop’ or ‘New New Wave’.
Because I also paint, there is a surreal visual dialog that I want to share with you that is removed from the stereotypical electronic music.
I am recording a new entitled, ‘Distances’. It’s a return to all that has ever inspired me since I first played a 7" Beatles single on a tube turntable as a kid. From my first recorded tapes as Anything Box, to the most experimental music I compose now by using algorithmic computer synthesis (fancy term for my 1960’s robots), post-punk electronic new wave… It has it all.
I want to invite you to become a part of this album’s story! And I’ve teamed up with PledgeMusic to make this happen. I think that this is the most idealized form of sharing of the art & music that I could have ever imagined.
I would’ve loved to have been there when Sgt. Peppers or Computer World were recorded. Can you picture that? Getting updates from The Beatles or Kraftwerk?? This is seriously the best time ever
It makes me happy just to think about how amazing it is that we can see and share experiences like this. So yes! I am inviting YOU in to MY world. It has always been a private world, and usually I lock myself up. No one sees or hears anything until it’s done. Not this time. Knock on my door, come in and make yourself comfortable.
