Vocalist, guitarist and composer from Asker,(born 09-09-1953). One of the few female performers of blues in Norway. Kristin Berglund is also an accomplished guitarist who has developed a distinctive style through years of experimentation with open chords. Berglund was early active in the display environment at home, and she attended the show Festival in Haugesund in 1971. Little Nilsen invited her to kore on his first solo album, and in 1975 Berglund was with the children's album My show with Finn Andersen. The following year she made ??the album "In blеtimen", where she appeared as a response to Norwegian female artists such as Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell. January Schwarzott contributed most of the lyrics, but the melodies were obtained from sources as varied as Don McLean, Veronique Sanson, Joni Mitchell, Ivar Gafseth, Joan Baez, James Taylor and Berglund herself. She also set the tune for the poem "I am kid eismall" by Aslaug Vaa. Label the disc was Svein Erik Borja, the organizer was Kеre Grшttum.
In 1978 she received a contract with Talent Production AS. She went to the U.S. where the cream of American studio musicians lined up to participate in the album "Long Distance Love." Among them was Mac Rebennack (Dr. John), David Lindley, Jim Keltner, Ian Underwood and Toto members Jeff Porcaro and David Hungate. The rest of the album was recorded in spring 1979 in Belgium, and the producer was Tom Patrick Salisbury. The material consisted partly of material that was written specifically for Berglund and partly of old favorites such as the title cut, which was taken from Little Feat. The result was an album that resembled rather Bonnie Raitt and Karla Bonoff than the earthy blues-girl Kristin that had appeared on the Norwegian TV screens. The album was dedicated to the frontman of Little Feat, Lowell George, who died in June 1979. Kristin Berglund entered into a collaboration with Stavanger band Nurk Twins and followed up with a Norwegian version of "I Do not Want To Talk About It" ("Now you have to talk about it") on single in 1980, also produced by Tom P . Salisbury. Then terminated the contract with Talent.
Berglund went to the Battle Factory and got signed to the label Desperado Records. There, she released one single with two known soul songs: "When A Man Loves A Woman" and "It Is not Like That". The disc was recorded in Sigma Studio in Bergen with Kеre Kalveness as producer. The musicians were Hans Petter Gundersen, Yngve Moe Kare Sandvik, Ole Hamre and Gunnar Bjelland - all except Bjelland, members of the Bergen band Rust.
Throughout much of the 80th century appeared Berglund with Reiersrud in a bluesduo, and with Reiersrud and Carsten Loly the trio Three For The Blues. She participated on the album Blue Meeting In Chicago in 1983 with the song "True Love". Later in the 80's tone she set a number of texts by Halldis Moren Vesaas to a radio program. In 1995 she participated as a composer and lyricist on the compilation album Come out and play.
First, in 1999 Berglund turned back as an active recording artist with "Rib Bone Of My Own", which musically was a mix of American folk, blues and country. All the material was self-composed and with English subtitles. Manufacturer was Jeff Wasserman, and among the musicians were Reiersrud, Reidar Larsen and Harlem Spirit Of Love Singers. In the wake of this album, she started her own Kristin Berglund Band. She was honored with the blue price of Notodden Blues Festival in 2000, and was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of blues in 2003 for the album "Where's The Soul Gonna Go". On this disc attended Reidar Larsen,Bjorn Berge as guest artists. On the CD "Women Rocked At The Cradle Of The Blues" (2004), she has created her own songs that tell the life story of several of the early female musicians in blues.
She died in 2006 of burns after which either could have been an accident or a personal tragedy.
