“This is one of the best tribute CD's I've ever heard; even more amazing that it's a tribute to Captain Beyond! Most of the tracks were recorded by Swedish bands & sung mainly in English, but some preferred to sing in their own language, which is quite unusual, but interesting to hear.
The whole of CB's debut album is covered here in its' entirety beginning with Pentagram's heavy metal reading of "Dancing Madly Backwards (On A Sea Of Air) & ending with Locomotive Breath's "I Can't Feel Nothin' (Part II). In between are some real gems; my favorites being The Flower Kings' off the wall but great version of "Raging River Of Fear" & "Mesmerization Eclipse" by Lotus featuring ex-Thin Lizzy/Motorhead guitarist Brian Robertson handling the lead guitar work.
There are 2 bonus tracks culled from CB's other 2 albums, one of which is the duo Orchid Leaves' excellent version of "Starglow Energy" (from 1973's "Sufficiently Breathless"), & "Sweet Dreams" by ZoomlenZ featuring Willy Daffern, who was CB's lead vocalist on the 1977 "Dawn Explosion" album.
Overall, this is a wonderful tribute to a very overlooked 1970's prog-rock band; my only question is, why couldn't a few American &/or British bands do an album like this? This CD is a bit on the pricey side being a Swedish import, but it's a must for Captain Beyond fans.”
