Таня Мария Корреа Рейс (Tania Maria Correa Reis) родилась в семье музыкантов-любителей. В детстве она обучалась игре на фортепиано по настоянию отца. Именно он сподвиг ее выбрать музыкальную карьеру и дал необходимые навыки и веру в себя.
Она изучала юриспруденцию, но страсть к музыке взяла свое. Таня начала выступать в клубах Сан-Паоло и Рио-де-Жанейро. Она увлеклась босса-новой, исполняя ее на новый лад — чуть грубее и ярче, что соответствовало ее страстному темпераменту. Этим она и покорила публику.
В 1974 году Таня уехала в Париж делать себе имя в Европе. «Это было время военной диктатуры. Я исполняла музыку с сильным джазовым акцентом, чего бразильцы не понимали. Они не понимали, зачем исполнять музыку родом из Штатов, когда можно исполнять чисто бразильские песни. А джаз уносил меня ввысь, делал меня свободной». Но это получается у меня само собой, возможно, сказывается моё происхождение и темперамент. Хотя я и живу уже 32 года в Европе, моё сердце остаётся бразильским».

Для Тани это был вызов, возможность совершить путешествие в свое прошлое и посмотреть на него с высоты своего теперешнего опыта. Судя по названию альбома, это очень теплые воспоминания (intimidade переводится как «интимность», «близость»). «Под близостью в данном случае я не подразумеваю секс. Близость – это часть любви. Люди уже не такие романтичные, как это было во времена моего детства, мы теряем традицию красивых ухаживаний. Всё только и крутится вокруг секса – музыка, фильмы, телевидение. В этом хаосе я через музыку хочу напомнить об очаровании близости».
