You really do not see enough Bing Crosby posted, and NEVER in lossless. His influence on 20th century popular singing should not be underestimated. He was called “the father of my singing career” by no less than Frank Sinatra, who influenced an entire generation of vocalists himself. Anyway, more attention should be focused on the work of Crosby, who may not have applied the serious attention to detail (in the recording studio) that Sinatra did, but nonetheless produced six decades of high quality recordings to appreciate.
Here are two titles from the mid 1950’s, recorded for the Decca label, the company to which Crosby was under contract from the 1930’s till the mid 1950’s. Songs I Wish I Had Sung the First Time Around was Bing Crosby's fifth Decca long play album, recorded and originally released in 1956. This was a concept album of sorts. Bing covered some of his musical rivals' biggest hits, such as Al Jolson's "April Showers" and Nat King Cole's "Mona Lisa".
New Tricks was a set of sides Crosby cut with the Buddy Cole Quartet (Cole was Crosby’s pianist for a number of years) for use on radio and were released on Decca in 1957. Here we enjoy this album with two bonus tracks, one recorded at the same sessions and one from a session with the same group, but from one year later. See comments for full session information.
These two albums have been ripped from two long out-of-print Japanese CD's (there were a few more Decca titles released in Japan which I wish I had as well
