Альбом "How do I love Thee? The World's most beautiful love poems" - результат совместной работы актера и композитора: британского актера Майкла Йорка и американского композитора Майкла Хоппа. Но объединение Мельпомены с Полигимнией вряд ли бы состоялось без участия их третьей сестры - Эрато.
Для записи этого альбома были выбраны двадцать два шедевра любовной лирики: от Соломона и Овидия до Шекспира, Байрона и Шелли, легшие на музыку Майкла Хоппа. В ходе работы над диском композитор многократно вслушивался в каждое стихотворение, ловя его ритм и подбирая музыку, на фоне которой должен был зазвучать голос Майкла Йорка. With the release of Tapestry, Michael Hoppe has once again bestowed upon the world a recording of stunning beauty and incredible emotional depth. Hoppe has been one of my very favorite artists since I first discovered his music in 1998, and he seems to just keep getting better with each new release. Hoppe has created a trademark of sorts by including photos taken by his grandfather, E.O. Hoppe, to illustrate the music. This time, in addition to the photos in the twenty-page booklet, there are poems written for each piece by Therese Tappouni and a video short film, Nous Deux Encore, which Hoppe scored. The British-born and Grammy-nominated Hoppe has released at least seventeen other albums over the past twenty or so years and is one of the most well-respected artists recording today. Several of his earlier albums were recorded with other artists including Tim Wheater (flute), Martin Tillman (cello), and Joe Powers (harmonica), and he has also collaborated on spoken-word albums with artists such as Michael York and Tim Wheater. Over the past several years, Hoppe has realized a life-long dream by recording several of his compositions with The Prague Symphony. While Hoppe’s music is very calming and soothing, it is much too nuanced and evocative to relegate to background music. Although I have listened to Tapestry at least ten times, I keep pausing while writing about it to drink in the beauty of the music.

Michael Hoppé is a composer, record producer and recording artist from the United Kingdom who now lives in the U.S.A. For many years he was head of A&R for the PolyGram record label. He signed New Age acts such as Vangelis, Jean Michel Jarre and Kitaro to the label as well as resigning ABBA and The Who. In 1984 he quit the business of music to take up composing (published by his company Chordially Yours Music) and working as a music consultant (InterConnection Resources) in Los Angeles. His discography contains over 20 albums in the 'new age' or 'classical' category. Hoppe says his music is best described as heart music and if often used for healing and meditation. His album, Solace, was nominated for a New Age Grammy in 2003. His music has been featured in film and television such as The Sopranos, the Oprah Winfrey Show, "Misunderstood" starring Gene Hackman, Michael Moore's "Sicko", and the multi award winning Short Film "Nous Deux Encore" featured on his Enhanced CD "Tapestry" (Wikipedia).

Michael Hoppe (1944) is a GRAMMY Award nominated composer with an exceptional melodic talent, and distinctive evocative style. He has an extensive background in both pop and classical music which his recordings reflect.
Hoppe’s music is performed and heard internationally including HBO’s “The Sopranos”, Oprah Winfrey Show, Michael Moore’s documentary “Sicko”, David Volach’s “My Father, My Lord”, “Misunderstood” (starring Gene Hackman), and the multi-award winning short “Eyes of the Wind” which reached the Oscar nomination short list.
His music is extensively used by such renowned authors/teachers as the celebrated environmentalist Jane Goodall, Julia Cameron (“The Artist’s Way”), Sarah Breathnach (“Simple Abundance”), Robert Cooper (“The Emotional Intelligence”), and others, in their workshops.
Hoppe’s recordings were also selected as the official music for The Palm Springs and Santa Barbara International Film Festivals, as well as heard in the award winning TV spot for the ALS Association, and the National Breast Cancer Awareness campaign PSA.
Hoppe’s songs have been recorded by a variety of singers and instrumentalists including Vangelis, the Prague Symphony, Tim Wheater, Martin Tillman, Zamfir, Frank Mills, Eliza Gilkyson, Cecilia, Louise Di Tullio, Lou Anne Neill, Eugene Fodor, Lily Haydn, Heidi Fielding, Dwain Briggs, Alyssa Parks, Libbie Jo Snyder, Mitsuki Darzai, Joe Powers and others.
His endeavors in the music industry have brought him several gold and platinum records, and “The Yearning” won “CD OF THE YEAR”, and “Afterglow” was voted Best Album at the Indie 2000 Convention (AFIM Awards). Also “The Lover “ won the Visionary Award, and Hoppe’s GRAMMY Award nominated CD “Solace” was featured in Clint Eastwood’s ‘Flags of our Fathers’ documentary. After “How Do I Love Thee?” an album of love poems narrated by Michael York, Hoppe recorded “Requiem”, a solo piano album “Romances”, and “Nostalgie” Romances for Harmonica featuring Joe Powers. Hoppe has performed in Korea several times, and last year performed his Requiem in Prague. He recently scored the award winning Short Film “Nous Deux Encore”, the winner at the Portland Film Festival
Previously, Hoppe founded InterConnection Resources, a music business consultancy. He was also a senior executive at PolyGram responsible for signing such diverse talents as Vangelis, Kitaro, The Who, Jean-Michel Jarre and ABBA to the label.
