The Second Barry Manilow Special is an inspired behind-the-scenes affair in which Barry Manilow explores his music inside the mostly empty Pantages Theater, mostly alone (including excellent renditions of "Tryin' To Get The Feeling Again" and "All The Time"), but he also sings with children, senior citizens and even a couple of animated skunkd. One of the many highlights of the show is the appearance of Ray Charles, who performs an absolutely stunning version of Manilow's "One Of These Days," before dueting with Manilow on "It's A Miracle." In the show's concluding act, Manilow sings "Can't Smile Without You" and "Looks Like We Made It" before a packed and pleased Pantages crowd, but for most of this exceptional show no one is watching - other than the crew and millions of people on ABC. As for the appearance of Barry's mother - she's very good...and very proud.
