“Despite members fairly young age (none of them exceed 30 years old)
EPN Trio shows both an artistic and interpretative maturity that results
infrequent in Argentinean contemporary-jazz scene. The record they have just
released was built up in the well known reality of economical and institutional
restrictions. Nevertheless those limitations have not been an obstacle for
Sebastian Preit, Héctor Britos and Facundo Negri to spread their talent in such a
forceful way. EPN compose, plays and offer the audience two hours of music.
This overwhelming compositions –and improvisations- challenges the common
sense as well as the categories or the methods of qualification. Lyrics, texts,
poetry and visual artwork, not only contribute in an astonishing way, but take a
central part in music-concept development. The design shows us – one more
time- how ambitious is this project, telling at every corner “the greater and
intricate the better”. The result is an innovative and unique Art-Object.
The Trío put into tension several borders between genres and gives us a
central key – or at least one defined thought- of how they understand the
“contemporary condition”. Music flows, and in the journey it unveil the
composers personal way of listening. Nothing seems to be foreign: fusion
between Jazz and “erudite music”, Rock, Hip Hop and Song Writing. But, finally
they are themselves. Being personal and original is an admirable condition,
especially in a World which tends to rest on common places. This record – due
to the freshness and convictions- calls listeners, is searching for the audience
which celebrates braveness and need novelties”
