Explode your TV and come see ColorStar, a band named after the Hungarian-made TV-set infamous in the 1980s for exploding right after midnight.
The band ColorStar was established in 1996 by four Budapest youths who had been playing music together for some time. It moved in the direction of "scientific educational dance music" as its goal was to combine instrumental and vocal music, acoustic and electronic tunes as well as live- and mechanical music so that the final result should be a kind of music that could not be classified in any existing music.
Their journey began in 1998 with Heavenicetrip!, the ideal music for space and polar expeditions. Then, they invited everyone to the avenue of music (Via La musica, 2001) showing the world the infinite possibilities of psychedelic dance music. A touch of gypsy and other folk music, a hint of jazz, just to make it more special, and pop in its best sense. And all mostly in English.
Drummer Zoltan Farkas told The Budapest Sun: "We have received emails from all over Europe, and the US. One guy from New York wrote that he demonstrates the quality of the speakers in his hi-fi shop with our second CD. We were quite moved."
The third phase of their odyssey begins on Saturday (October 16), in Club Godor. Their much anticipated new CD, Komfort, is to be introduced to the audience in a two and a half hour set, with a Video Jockey on board, making the show even more colorful. Listening to parts of the CD, it is clear that they have, again, redefined dance music.
The band has already toured France, Belgium, Germany, Turkey and Slovenia and hope their new releases will give them a chance to reach others.
