Canturbe returns after many years worth of a lengthy and silent sabbatical, bringing back with them the melancholy of their early years, albeit in tune with current sounds. Canturbe's songs reflect Buenos Aires-flavoured stories, in combination with different instrumentations, together with the contribution of important guest musicians.
Argentinean rock project Canturbe was created in the late ’70s by singer/guitarist Jorge Garacotche. One of the most remembered urban rock band of the eighties is back. The band that covered Buenos Aires (Argentina) with stickers advertising its name to show songs that merge, perfectly, English and native rock with tango sounds of modernity.
Canturbe manage to record their first album at the end of 1980 with “El vuelo de los olvidados” (“The fly of the forgotten”), which can’t be called that way (the song with the same name talks in poetic terms el about the arrested and missing people) because of the dictatorship’s prohibition.
The new material counts with thirteen new songs composed by Jorge Garacotche. Of course, it has an urban progressive ambient, returning to that old style, but focus in the present time, overall in the lyrics. The new album "Sociedad secreta de melancólicos" (Melancholic’s secret society) will be on stock in the first days of December of 2008.
The music on Canturbe's "Sociedad secreta de melancólicos" isn't that complex. Nevertheless, this is in many ways a remarkable album, and originality isn't the only hallmark of it. Romantic guitar Art-Rock lovers will find here just what they like.
