I was born in Palermo on June 13th 1974. I started playing electric bass when I was 13 and after a few years I approached the double bass. I graduated, with the maximum grade, at the state music conservatory “Vincenzo Bellini” of Palermo, under the guide of Maestro Franco Muzzi.
I grew up in a very creative environment performing many different styles of music including jazz, latin, rhythm & blues, world, classic, brasilian music. I also worked as a music teacher for the city hall of Palermo and in different private music schools.
From 1994 I' m a member of the etno band 'Tammorra' with whom I recorded two CDs : “Ballu Tunnu” (1994) and “Sali” (2001) produced by the german label BIBER RECORDS. I performed in numerous festivals in Italy and all over Europe: Austria, Switzerland, Portugal, Spain, France, Slovenia, Germany, where in 1999 with the band Tammorra we won the 8th edition of the 'Folk Herbst Fest' in Plauen.
I received the diploma at the 'European School of Jazz Orchestra' (teachers: Gunther Schuller, Bill Russo, Pietro Tonolo, Marcello Piras, Piero Leveratto, Dusko Gojkovich, Mario Raja) with the grade of 27/30 and, with the same orchestra, i performed the italian premiere of the NEW ORLEANS SUITE (D. Ellington) under the direction of Bill Russo.
In 2001 I recorded the CD 'Balarm', with the band Djun Djun, and I composed and performed the music of 'Garibaldi', a short movie directed by S. Pecoraro.
In 2003 I performed the 'Claude Bolling's suite for cello & jazz piano trio' at the 'Teatro Politeama Garibaldi' of Palermo.
In 2004 and 2007 I have performed, with Tammorra, at the 'Rain Forest World Music Festival' in Sarawak Borneo Malaysia.
I collaborate with the songwriter Pippo Pollina with whom I recorded the CD 'Ultimo volo - Orazione civile per Ustica' (2007) and 'Bar Casablanca' (2004) and performed during a long tour (117 concerts!) in which the album was presented in Europe (2005).
In January 2006 the show 'La scomparsa di Majorana', which was created by me, has been presented in premiere in Berlin at the 'Werkstatt Der Kulturen', in cooperation with 'Teatro Instabile Berlino'. It has become a CD published by the italian label SILTA RECORDS.
In 2007 I founded with F. Guaiana and L. Quattrocchi the Orchestra In-stabile DIS/accordo an ensemble of about 15 elements that improvise each performance following the 'conduction' technique.

The quintet was created following the experience during the show 'La scomparsa di Majorana' conceived by bassist Luca Lo Bianco, presented as a world premiere in Berlin. Although the project officially started in 2006, the musicians that compose EAR CATCHER have connected through diverse musical and humanistic experiences shared through many years of collaboration.
The point of union and, simultaneously, the starting point that animates the performances of the band is the continuous, expressive exploration in a creative synthesis with no aesthetic limitations, the result of a natural superposition of musical languages. The proposed repertoire is mainly based on original compositions written by the leader, in a daring alchemy of sound enlivened by contrasts of timbre and articulated arrangements focused on choral execution. The self-titled CD produced by Fitzcarraldo Records has been greeted with enthusiasm by critics and has been positively reviewed in Jazzit, All About Jazz, Jazz Italia, Jazz Colors, Il Giornale della Musica and aired on ‘Battiti’ and ‘File urbani’ on Rai Radio3, Anima Jazz, Ecoradio, Radio Sherwood etc..
In over 15 years of musical activity Luca Lo Bianco has built much of his musical experience playing abroad in Austria, Switzerland, Malaysia, Portugal, Spain, Holland, France, Slovenia, Germany, recording over 20 CDs and collaborating with artists such as, Bill Russo, Gunther Schuller, Elliot sharp, Adam Rudolph, Salvatore Bonafede, Fabrizio Bosso, Ettore Fioravanti, Achille Succi, Dusko Gojkovich, Javier Girotto, Amy Denio, Ferenc Nemeth, Stefano Battaglia, Jimmy Weinstein, Walter Keiser, Paul Jeffrey, Riccardo Tesi, Fausta Vetere, Clara Murtas amongst others.
