"It Must Be Him", Liberty single #55986, is two minutes and forty- eight seconds of gut wrenching desperation produced by Dave Pell and arranged by Ernie Freeman, the first of three U.S. Top 40 hits for Carr and her biggest, a signature tune identified with this singer only. You can hear nuances of Peggy Lee, Shirley Bassey and Ella Fitzgerald in the voice that is still distinctive and unique, this song coming exactly two years before Peggy Lee, twenty one years Vikki's senior, let the world know that when things like this happen one just chalks it up to experience. Lee's "Is That All There Is?" matched "It Must Be Him" at #1 on the Adult Contemporary charts, though that title failed to dent the Top 10 as Carr did with this classic. Vikki Carr is one of the best-loved and most accomplished entertainers in the United States, Latin America and Europe. She is celebrating her fifth decade of a career in which she has won three Grammy Awards and has released over 60 best-selling recordings. Her concert tours of 2006/2007 sold-out shows in the U.S., Mexico and South America. Viva La Vida is a truly extraordinary album, produced with the utmost virtuosity by Vikki Carr and José Hernández, who is renowned for his collaborations with Vicente Fernández, Selena, Juan Gabriel and Willie Nelson, among others.

Every song on this album was carefully selected for its own special reason. The album opens with the uplifting title track, “Viva La Vida,” written by none other than the incredible songsmith Claudia Brant (Ricky Martin, Santana, David Foster).
“Viva La Vida” isn’t meant to be a rhythmic song. Its purpose is to lift our spirits and give hope.
Other surprises we can savor on this album include “Sensaciones,” written by the maestro Roberto Livi and “Ay Amor De Mis Amores,” written by album co-producer Jose Hernandez. Vikki Carr also includes a poignant and lively medley titled “Mis Raices” that pays tribute to her Mexican roots, which come by way of her grandparents.
All of these songs feature musical accompaniment by Mariachi Sol de México, directed as always by José Hernández. The National Symphony of the Americas also performs on several songs.
As a bonus for elite fans, the album will be available in a Deluxe Version Limited Edition, which includes 12 Vikki Carr songs from the Sony vaults personally selected by Vikki herself.
She’s also contributed some very revealing liner notes to this deluxe edition which give us insight into the recording process.
