‘All The Crooked Scenes’ is the debut Album to come from Leeds-based Ellen and the Escapades. Ellens dusky, enchanting vocals and strikingly well crafted often bittersweet songs have already captured the attention of many. They hit their Pledge Campaign target in 8 days, showing just how eager the fans are for this release.
The past two years have been an exhilarating journey for this shy bunch. After wining 2010’s Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition and playing BBC introducing stages at both Reading and Leeds Festivals, the band have gone from strength to strength supporting the like of King Charles, Josh T. Pearson and Paolo Nutini, bringing the bands music to even bigger audiences all over the country. Summer 2011 saw an abundant string of festival appearances for Ellen and co, including major festivals Glastonbury, Bestival and Green Man.
‘All The Crooked Scenes’ is preceded by the release of their next single, the title track of the album on the 2nd April, and a full UK tour including a home town show at the Brudenell Social Club on the 15th April, and an album launch party with the Communion boys at the Lexington on the 16th April.

Back in 2009 I stumbled upon a 5 piece folk/pop band from Leeds band called Ellen & The Escapades, it was a cold windy day at Leeds Festival, and due to a large night out I found myself clinging onto the side of the BBC Introducing stage.
I've been keeping an eye on them ever since and seen them go from strength to strength, winning the Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition in 2010 and continuing on to play other top festivals such as Green Man and Bestival. Fast forward to now and they're about to release their debut album, `All The Crooked Scenes'.
Despite their folky sound, there are shades of Fleetwood Mac and a Pink Floyd-ish feel in others, standout tracks include `Cast' and `Stonebird' full of brilliant harmonies, with Ellen's captivating vocals and simple yet deep lyrics. It's an album oozing with talent, the recordings are big, and as debut albums go a confident sign of things to come.
