Опять вернулся Мур, помогавший в сессиях Black Rose, но не прошло и года, как его сменил Мидж Ур (экс-"Slik" и "Rich Kids"). Следующий год был для "Thin Lizzy" коммерчески успешным: синглы "Waiting For An Alibi" и "Do Anything You Want To" попали в Топ 20, а альбом "Black rose" стал бестселлером. В конце 1979-го Ур ушел в "Ultravox", а его сменил Сноуи Уайт. В начале 1980 года Лайнотт начал сольную карьеру.
