Некоммерческая организация Blues Foundation объявила номинантов на премию Blues Music Awards 2008 года и начало продавать билеты на торжественную церемонию, которая состоится 8 мая 2008 года. Впервые за 29 существования премии (прежде она называлась W.C.Handy Award), церемония пройдет в сердце штата Миссиссиппи, считающегося родиной блюза: разом с городом Тулса в Grand Casino Event Center.

Bobby Rush номинируется в 4 категориях, как Артист года в акустическом блюзе и в соул-блюзе; его альбом "Raw" ("сырой"), записанным им сольно под гитару и губную гармонику, претендует на титул Акустический альбом года.

Группа Watermelon Slim & the Workers собрала 6 номинаций, в том числе их альбом "The Wheel Man" претендует на награду за лучший Альбом года.
