Fight the system is what this Swedish-German act are looking to do, at least if we are looking at the title of this new album. Well, the system is rotten in this world and it is getting a bit rotten even here in one of the most free and democratic nations in the world. Perhaps they want to fight the plague that is infesting out parliament these days and maybe mangle the second deputy speaker with iron tubes. That would be quite cool if that stinking disgusting person was to be beaten in a way he likes beating people. Maybe they don’t care about politics at all, it might just be a title. Before I loose myself in dreams of a free world where intolerance and stupidity is extinct, lets just look at this album instead.

Twenty years has passed since the debut of this band, then a german band released their debut Inside Out in 1994. Now a lot has changed, swedes has joined the band mixing up the culture a bit and only the bassist remains since the band’s inception 22 years ago. Maybe those frequent changes in staff helps keep the band vital because they feel energetic and fresh when listening to this new album. The melodic rock/metal building on catchy choruses is recognisable from the band’s past but feels updated and fresh in this iteration. Excellent vocalist and great production, there are many things really well made in this production.

The variation over the songs is strong, there are energetic songs as well as calmer songs and the album shows a great dynamic sound. The album has a short enough playing time not to turn out repetitive after a couple of playthroughs. I really think that this album is one of the, if not the, best album by Jaded Heart so far. So they may not really fight the system but they definitely refresh themselves and adds something that feels relevant to the genre. There are worse ways to commemorate twenty years since the debut album.

A recommended album, that’s for sure. I have enjoyed it and I am sure that you would enjoy it too as it would appeal to most fans of good music. All eleven songs are good but the opening pair stand out slightly because of the sheer quality and the great energy at which they open this album in the best possible way. Impressive, 22 years and still going strong, Jaded Heart are great and they are still relevant, that is impressive.
