Belgium Heavy Metal from 1984 for the first time available on CD in 1994.
Review taken from some random blog:
"I really can't understand why this band never made it and never even got the credit it deserved. Lions Pride played the kind of metal that people nowadays feel nostalgic about. Heavy guitars, galloping rhythms, melodic Maiden-like leads, powerful riffs and raw, passionate vocals. Speaking of the vocals, their singer may not have the best sounding voice, but the way he delivers is oustanding. He sings his heart out making the final result sound great!"

Lions Pride were one of the minor bands on Mausoleum who vanished into obscurity after one album. Posthumous cult success has evaded them so far. After a few spins of Breaking Out it's easy to see why.

It's not a bad album, honestly. Lions Pride sounded like Sabbath's Mob Rules and Dio mixed with some NWOBHM-influences and the Accept grind familiar from many other Mausoleum bands. The musicians aren't great (more than adequate on Mausoleum standards, though) but they put their heart into it. Willy Beckers wants to sound exactly like Ronnie James Dio and fails, but he's not THAT bad a singer. None of the songs are particularly memorable, but Lions Pride did have a rough, heavy sound and managed to breathe some life into otherwise forgettable songs with their passionate delivery. But there's always a but.

Objectively speaking, Lions Pride were BETTER than other similar Belgian bands like Crossfire or Dark Wizard, but they had no identity whatsoever. Dark Wizard were risible, but they were unique in their awfulness. Crossifre were dodgy alright, but the metal madness of Second Attack makes for better beer drinking music than Lions Pride. Breaking Out is worth getting for the occasional spin, but that's about it.
