Since I discovered the band AVALANCH, I have become a huge fan of Metal sung in different languages than English. When a friend of mine told me that MANIGANCE was singing in French, I was quite sceptical, but when he played me "Ange Ou Demon", I was sold out at first listen. Their mix of Hard Rock and Prog Metal is quite effective and entertaining, just enough power induced in their music to keep Heavy Metal fans interested, without scaring away AOR fans.

MANIGANCE is the French answer to ELEGY, "State Of Mind" era. Often, Didier Delsaux's vocal lines remind me of Ian Parry, with a strong dramatic emphasis. "Signe De Vie" is their first album, recorded in their own home studio, in 1997. They have decided, in 2003, to release it again, re-mastered, since it was nearly impossible to get the first edition. To make this release more attractive, they added three bonus tracks, two being covers of TRIUMPH and the third, a Japanese bonus track sung in English (I still prefer MANIGANCE in French). Unfortunately, I never had the chance to hear the original, so I can't compare the two versions, but the re-master version sounds perfect.

The band members are huge fans of a well known French Metal band, SORTILÈGE and they are not afraid of showing in their music where their influences come from. For sure, in their sound you'll hear often some hints of the 80's Metal era, but without sounding too old.

Some people will complain about the French lyrics, but I really don't understand why this should be a problem. If the only issue is the language barrier, you'll loose a chance of hearing an outstanding band.
