Heavy Metal band with a turbulent history from the small outback town of Broken Hill in New South Wales. DUNGEON was founded in August of 1989 by "Lord" Tim Grose on guitars and vocals with bassist Eddie Tresize and drummer Ian De Bono. The band was brought up to strength with the addition of Carolyn Boon on keyboards and Justin Hansen on second guitar as Tresize was supplanted by Randall Hockling.

This line-up of DUNGEON lasted some six months prior to both Hockling and Hansen quitting. DUNGEON duly enrolled guitarist Dale Fletcher and bassist Jamie Baldwin but De Bono was to uproot himself shortly after, the drum stool then being filled briefly by Darryl Reiss.

By February of 1991 DUNGEON was in turmoil again as Dale Corney came in to oust Fletcher. By this stage DUNGEON operated simply as Lord Tim, Corney and a drum machine although numerous guitarists came and went. DUNGEON got back to strength with new recruits bassist George Smith, guitarist Steve Mikulic and ex-DR. ZEUZ drummer Andrew Brody to record the band's first demo. These tapes were then released as the mini album 'Changing Moods' which also sees a guest contribution from SOUTHERN SONS drummer Virgil Donati. Brody then departed and DUNGEON pulled in former MAXIMUM CARNAGE drummer Wayne Harris.

A further member of MAXIMUM CARNAGE, bassist Justin Sayers, joined the fold just as Mikulic packed his bags. DUNGEON were then signed to a new Australian label, Nu-Town, who managed to secure a Japanese deal for a further album. 'Demolition' was released in Japan containing new tracks alongside cuts from the 'Changing Moods' mini album which Sayers had reworked the bass lines.

Quite bizarrely to promote the album DUNGEON opted to enlist drummer Tyrone McMaster. Although he appeared on the album and in press photos McMaster could not drum! Sensibly the band roped in former ENTICER and ADDICTIVE drummer Steve Moore in his stead as recording got underway for the 'Resurrection' album. The line up fractured once more when in July of 1999 Sayers bade farewell, going on to forge his own project KING OATH. This latest vacancy was filled by DR. ZEUS man Brendan McDonald.

During 2001 Dale Corney announced his departure. Stuart Marshall, a veteran of WISHING TREE, CORD and KARIZMA, was quickly inducted just up front of the 'Metal For The Brain XI' festival. DUNGEON would put in an extensive touring schedule that year, supporting YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, NEVERMORE and EDGUY as well as headling the main stage at 'Metal For The Brain' and co-headlining the 'Screaming Symphony' and 'Metal Warriors' events in Melbourne as well as the 'Wintersun' festival in Canberra.

The band next set about self financing the recording of a further studio album and in the interim issued a six track live promo cheekily dubbed 'Maiden Our Spare Time'. DUNGEON signed to the Melbourne based Metal Warriors label to release the August 2002 album 'A Rise To Power'. This outing would be picked up for European issue by the Hamburg based Power Metal specialist Limb Music Products in June of 2003. Also in the works would be the DVD ''Under The Rising Sun', filmed at Club Citta in Tokyo.

DUNGEON entered R&R Recordings Studios in March of 2004 to work on two full-length albums, a new release entitled 'One Step Beyond' and a re-recording of their 1999 debut 'Resurrection'. Laid down during these sessions would be cover versions of QUEEN's 'The Hero' and DOKKEN's 'Til The Living End'. The band also acted as support to OPETH's Sydney show that same month.

Further high profile gigs as support to EDGUY in June saw the band employing a temporary rhythm section comprising MOBSTAR bassist Glenn 'Gammaray' Williams and drummer Grahame Goode from INFERNAL METHOD, AUTOMATION, CRYOGENIC, NEOPHOBIA and STRONGER THAN HATE. In November the SYPHILIS, AUTOMATION, DEADSPAWN and ex-INFERNAL METHOD Pete Peric made the bass position permanent. However, in January 2005 the band parted ways with both Peric and Goode, both duly rejoining INFERNAL METHOD.

The new look DUNGEON, incorporating bassist Glenn Williams and drummer Tim Yatras, opened for MEGADETH at shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne during April. This union with MEGADETH, and adding METAL CHURCH, extended into European gigs in June. Upon the band's return from these gigs a major split in the ranks witnessed the departure of both Stuart Marshall and bassist Glenn Williams. Following this announcement DUNGEON revealed that the group's next 3 scheduled shows, in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, would be their last as, after completion of a swansong DUNGEON record, Tim Grose subsequently put his energies into LORD.

DUNGEON put the finishing touches to their swansong album, 'The Final Chapter', in September 2006, being released by Limb Music Products across Europe and Modern Invasion in Australia and New Zealand.
