BIOGRAPHY.. Fates Prophecy came up in the beginning of 1991, inspired by the great names of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. The 90s were marked by some innovations in the Rock world, when the Seattle grunge emerged and bands like Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Nirvana started dictating what was fashionable. The real Heavy Metal was a bit hidden in a way, and the new bands were all doing something different, as Pantera and Faith No More, and even old bands, like Metallica, were changing their direction. Heavy Metal monsters like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden were going down the charts and, at the same time, both lost their frontmen. All these facts made many people believe that “Metal was dead”, which was far away from the truth, as Metal music has always had its faithful audience of followers. As they deeply believed in it, Fates Prophecy entered the studios to record their first ever demo tape, which was followed by a bunch of shows and a 7” single, named Time To Live, which made them go and record a second demo, Pay For Your Sins, which was crucial for the band’s appearance in all means of communication, such as specialized magazines, radio shows, newspapers and fanzines. .... Carried away by the great repercussion, Fates Prophecy finally records their first album in 1998, Into The Mind, which was considered to be one of the greatest newcomers of the year by Metal magazines like Roadie Crew, Rock Brigade and MetalHead, and the Backstage radio show, on Brasil 2000 FM. Due to such recognition, Fates Prophecy were invited to take part on the Iron Maiden tribute cd called Slave To The Power, by the American label Meteorcity, which was distributed worldwide via Century Media Records. On this tribute, the band recorded the well known Maiden classic Wasted Years, and became a highlight along with names like Sebastian Bach, Iron Savior, John West (Royal Hunt), Chris Caffery (Savatage), Holy Mother, Ian Parry (Elegy), Kamelot, Cowbar, among others, being the only South American band to be on this tribute. .... With all the experience and maturity the band achieved, they release their second album Eyes Of Truth, featuring nine brand new tracks in a concept about the relation between good and evil. The great evolution of the band in this album presents much tighter instrumental parts and darker and intense atmosphere, in contrast with a heavier and aggressive style. Eyes Of Truth brings a top quality production, and impeccable sound and artwork, highlighting Paulo Anhaia’s work in the studios, and Marcelo Rossi’s designs, responsible for the great cover art impact, which is just a sample of what you will find in this album. .... After the end of the recordings, Fates Prophecy had to face their most difficult challenge: singer André Boragina was diagnosed with cancer, and passed away a few months after. Just about to start the promotion for the new album, the band had to find a new frontman, in order to carry on with the work. They then came with Sergio Faga, who had already done the vocals with Fates Prophecy on the Hamlet project (by Die Hard Records), which brought the best Heavy Metal bands from Brazil all together. .... It has many years since this Heavy Metal dedication story started, while lots of trends went away, and lots of new ones will also arise, but it still has many chapters to be written by a band that earned their room inside the hearts of headbangers worldwide.
