End of status report
CD Universe:

Canadian art rockers Rheostatics' album 2067 contains the songs "Shack in the Cornfields," "Marginalized," and "I Dig Music," among others.

12th album from the Canadian band. Their music has been described as "prog-rock," "art-rock," "orchestral psychedelia" and "a loosely organized cacophony of sound".In a millennial survey of Canadian music critics, the Rheostatics placed two albums - Melville and Whale Music - in the top ten Canadian records of all time, a feat duplicated only by the legendary Guess Who.

Editorial Reviews:
Product Description
Welcome to 2067-- the album, not the year! 2067 is a complete work that invites the listener to sit back and absorb the whole album. From the whimsical yet poignat Power Ballad for Ozzy Osbourne and The Tarleks (yes, as in Herb Tarlek) to the anthemic Shack in the Cornfields and everything in between, this CD is sure to be short-listed by many as one of 2004 s best.

5.0 out of 5 stars - ...And the world stood still..., October 31, 2004
By: Igor Kordey (Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada)
Still overwhelmed with beautiful and strong emotions after their yesterday's concert in Winnipeg (apparently the last one in their Canadian tour, promoting this CD), I just feel strong urge to share and point finger on "Candian best kept secret", amazing Rheostatics, as something extremely important and exeptional in contemporary music. I collect music for years and years, and as time goes by, there are less and less individuals or bands out there, whose each new CD's I'm really anticipating with great thrill, knowing that they always have something exciting, fresh and original to offer. Rheostatics are certainly among
those few, and they did it again with "2067". I have all of their albums (including Tielli's solo projects) , and, in their own terms , it is impossible to range and compare"2067" with the rest - it is not better or worst, it's just different , strong, compelling and provocative like all of them -
artistical statement par exellance. It is also impossible to compare
Rheostatics with other performers - such big amount of mental and artistical freedom, combined with quirky sense of humor, makes them quite unique in rock universe. Talking about skills, they are, again, quite unique - All of them(Tielli, Bidini, Vesely and Woyewoda) are excellent singers and multi-instrumentalists, and not just that - Bidini paralelly
pushes his writing career (his a fine essayist), and Tielly is amazing painter, one of few in Canada who has something to say in his paintings and drawings, in terms of visual culture and engagement.
Tielly is a specal addition to band's presentation - he always creates band's covers, so in case of Rheostatics you always have rare oportunity to experience complete and original artistical point of view - sound AND word AND picture.
Frank Zappa said: "Rock is not dead, it just smells funny". In case of Rheostatics, it is very alive, because it is still free, avoiding any limitations and tags, and therefore it smells beautifully.
Salvador Dali said: "Perfect things are boring". In case of Rheostatics, their (intentional) shabbyness and infinite change of mood and technique in just one song, is absolutely charming, and guarantees that their music won't for sure become boring after repetitive listening.
I'm not Canadian, but I'm extremely proud to have Rheostatics in my neighborhood. I won't hassle you to buy their record(s), but if you want to support and make tick one of the last outposts of freedom of mind in this harsh world of globalisation, you can certainly do something about it. Rheostatics won't complain - they need to pay their bills too...

5.0 out of 5 stars - Superb!, November 24, 2004
By: Anglobotomy (Las Vegas, Nv United States)
The Rheostatics have always had an ability to create the most amazing albums. Lyrically, they're touching, evocative and comical. Instrumentally, they're masters of mood and catchy tunes. This album is no slouch in the Rheo's discography. It's nothing like their earlier work - less obviously experimental, more accessible, but nothing like the mainstream junk that plagues the music world these days. Some of the songs on this album are incredible. There are no bad songs here. I love Power Ballad for Ozzy Ozborne and I Dig Music. A great album. Buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars - another great album, Jan 5 2005
By: A Customer
The Rheostatics have done it again: another album of high integrity and musicianship for the mature listener. Simply put, this album will not let you down- somehow, these guys are still getting better! Unfortunately, they are also one of the most under rated bands, and I believe time will tell them to be one of the great music artists of our time and place. (if you think that this is over enthusiastic, just listen to their earlier albums 'Whale Music' or the verging-on-genius Harmelodia.)I am not surprised that they continue to elude mainstream stardom, but this is simply because their music is too creative for most pop listeners to appreciate. If you are not familiar with their music, a real treat is in store for you. For those with a good ear, let them hear!

5.0 out of 5 stars - The fella below couldn't have said it better..., Sep 2 2006
By: JJ (Peterborough, Canada)
I can only add to it..

The Rheos are masters of their craft. This is rich story telling at its finest. Just take a look at their liner notes! Like the good ol' days! I was a bit worried in the latter half of the 90's - after the brilliance of 'Whale Music' and the haphazard 'Introducing Happiness' - whether they were straying from the path, but after a few wayward experiments (not without the occasional flare mind you - the Story of Harmelodia for one), they have returned back to true form with a renewed spark and vitality. Their quirkiness shines through in this effort, and their attention to subtle nuance and detail. You just get immersed into the fantastical world they weave whole-heartedly. I just LOVEIT!!!

Keep it up boys!
