Throughout its history, Gallina Negra has performed in countless concerts and cultural events,some of which are: the most emblematic Festival of traditional Mexican music "Sones for Milo". It also highlights his concert at the Bicentennial Cultural Center Mexiquense (2013). Mestizantes Festival of Mexico City and the concert in the Jardin Borda in Cuernavaca Morelos (2011). Roots Festival in Palenque Chiapas. International Cervantino Festival , International Book Fair in the Zocalo of Mexico City and New Winds Festival (2008). Natural Elements Festival in Palenque Chiapas (2006). International Festival of Valle de Bravo (2005). Xcéntrico Festival of Mexico City and the Festival of Radio and Television in the State of Morelos (2004). Baja Prog Festival , sharing the bill with Ang fromFrance and Focus from Holland (2003). Opening act for the concert of the legendary Italian progressive Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso (2000). Presentation at the stadium C.U. Mexico 68 with an audience of 30000 high school students (1998). Highlights tour in 2003 by 6 cities of Spain presenting their album Little Creature and interviews nationwide with José Miguel López in his program Discópolis Spanish Radio Television . High level instrumental rock fusion.

Formed in 1994, Gallina Negra is a free form band that left behind stereotypes to approach elements from any musical genre. The band creates new works that have connections with many musical genres such as classical music, jazz, rock and others, mixed with traditional Mexican music elements to create something the band members call "progressive sones."

Gallina Negra creates emerging sounds out of the way from the commercial productions that nowadays exist in Mexico. The musicians apply their studies and research about the traditional music of Mexico with their experiences in both classical and popular music. The diversity in the use of Mexican instrumental such as flutes, ocarinas, bamboo flutes, vihuela, bajo quinto, teponaztle, etc., in combination with electric instruments and often supporting their work with folk traditional dancers, provides a rich and accessible mixture of sounds.

The band has participated in many cultural events throughout Mexico. In September 2000 Gallina Negra was invited to open for the legendary Italian progressive rock band, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso.

In 1998 Gatllina Negra produced a CD, "De flora y Fauna," including some of its audience's favorite songs, such as "La señorita" and "La tortuga." The most recent production is called "Gallina Negra" (Black hen), just like the name of the band.
